A New Beginning: Entech Innovation Center Construction has begun on Valparaiso's first business acceleration program. Entech Innovation Center will be located in Eastport Centre for Business near the Porter County Airport. Former Valparaiso Economic Development Director Charlie McGill is directing the program, which will be dedicated to developing ideas and growing businesses by fostering an environment of entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and a wealth of essential business resources to accelerate growth.
The Growth of Incubation in Indiana: Innovation Pointe Innovation Pointe, a high-tech business incubator in downtown Evansville operated by Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville (GAGE), recently added five new companies to its roster of clients. In addition, GAGE President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Wallace says two existing companies have expanded their operations as the incubator itself adds a new floor of operations. We had all of our incubation efforts on the second floor, and we've finished construction of the third floor, he says. That has doubled our floor space for incubation.
Purdue Prepares to Open New Incubator Purdue University is set to dedicate its newest business incubation center and is still on schedule to open another incubator in the first quarter of next year. In addition, the university has hired a director for the new facility and has started the search process for the other center.
Central Indiana Incubator Reaches Capacity The Anderson Business Incubator, a division of the Flagship Enterprise Center, has announced that it has reached full occupancy. The incubators 10,000 square feet of space is now leased to a total of nine clients with a diverse range of products and services. The milestone was reached in less than two years.

It should come as no surprise that Indiana is host to a growing number of veteran angel investors who are choosing to stay in their home state and support the communities in which they live. In addition to being a great place to live with lower costs of living compared to the coasts, Indiana provides a great environment for entrepreneurs and investors that includes premier research universities, favorable government and tax regulations, and a Hoosier culture that places value on people and relationships.
State Grant to Boost Growth of Inventrek Technology Park Inventrek Technology Park in Kokomo has received a major grant from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. The funds are provided through the Technology Development Grant program and are being used to help the park grow and attract new high-tech ventures.
Maintaining Momentum: Recertifying Tech Parks The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has recertified three of the states 18 Certified Technology Parks (CTP). The CTPs approved for continuing operations are located in the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, the Flagship Enterprise Center in Anderson and Intelliplex Park in Shelbyville.
Park Profile: Northeast Indiana Innovation Center A significant expansion of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center in Fort Wayne will soon be underway. The addition will include 31,000 square feet of new space for as many as 13 clients. The Emerging Growth Center project is being primarily funded through $5 million in state funding, although the center is trying to raise up to $1 million in additional funding for projects such as an amphitheater for outdoor classes. Officials hope to have clients occupying the new building by the end of the October.
Company Profile: Altair Nanotechnology A high-tech company is expanding its presence at a business center in Anderson. Nevada-based Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. is now leasing 70,000 square feet at the Flagship Business Accelerator. It had been occupying 30,000 square feet.
