Conference on Digital Fabrication
Digital Fabrication March 27th Webcast
Digital Fabrication Event: Focus on Indiana
An ATAIN Conference for IIN-The Indiana Innovation Network
March 27, 2006
10:00 a.m -- 5:00p.m Location: Alumni Center,
Ball StateUniversity , Munice, IN
From simple household products to building components for complex structures, landscapes, and interiors, this summit will focus on how Indiana manufacturers could employ Digital Fabrication and Rapid Prototyping processes as one strategy to compete with overseas manufacturing concerns.
Products made out of wood, limestone, concrete, steel, plastic, and recycled materials can all be produced faster and cheaper using three-dimensional digital information technology.
Current research points to increasing demand for customized architecture and consumer products created through digital technology.
This conference will illustrate how Indiana companies could tap into these new consumer niches.
This ATAIN-sponsored event is designed to create a dialog among experts from a variety of disciplines -- academics, designers, architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators, furniture-makers, and more -- to share information on the digital fabrication and rapid prototyping trends and current research being done in this field.
In addition, the conference will address workforce considerations addressing the skills and training necessary to support digital fabrication.
Be a part of this effort that has the potential to leverage Indiana's manufacturing strengths and could diversify existing manufacturing companies, grow new business, and increase manufacturing jobs – all through the power, precision and efficiency of digital technology.
Reserve Monday, March 27th on your calendar for this event. A finalized agenda for this conference is coming soon.
Bringing together experts and attendees from ATAIN Partners and Ivy Tech Community College, this conference is being coordinated by Ball State University’s new Digital Fabrication Institute at the Center for Media Design (CMD) and the Office of Academic Research and Sponsored Programs (OARSP).
